- Summary: How to make JiffyDOS Swedish
- Keywords: JiffyDOS

-
- I have in my possession one copy of the JiffyDOS chips for the Commodore
- C128D (PAL metal version with 64K Video RAM), but I normally don't use them,
- since my computer is a Swedish one, and the JiffyDOS chips are American.
-
- What I was thinking was if it would be possible to copy the JiffyDOS chips
- and modify those so that they will 'speak' Swedish too, including using
- a Swedish keyboard, toggling between the Swedish and American font (using
- the ASCII/CC key, that is "Caps Lock" in American C128Ds) (in 80 column mode,
- the 40 column mode is "wired" to the ASCII/CC key, the 80 column mode needs
- re-initializing after the key is changed), switching between Swedish and
- American keyboard (in C128D mode, via the same key, this is not possible
- in C64 mode, since it doesn't have the possability to read that key). And
- also completely dropping the Caps Lock mode.
-
- I was thinking on doing such a change, and I even got someone to help me, but
- the trouble is that I don't know the layout of the C128D EPROM chip (the one
- that contains the C64 KERNAL, BASIC and C128 KERNAL, BASIC (it's all in one
- chip)).
-
- Is there anyone that would be able to help me?
-
- I have access to EPROM readers/writers at school (I have been "about to"
- read the Swedish EPROM chip, but haven't gotten to.. yet).
